30 Days of Books: Day 12 - A Book You Used to Love But Don't Anymore

Check out my first post (HERE) for a whole explanation on this!  Jenni is hosting this round and she has a linky set up if you'd like to join in!  Check out her blog HERE.

Today's topic is: a book you used to love but don't anymore.

This was a tough for me simply because I don't reread a lot of books unless I loved them the first time around and will for sure like them the second time.  However, I think I found one:

Wings #1

Blurb:
"Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.

Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.

In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever."

This was one of the first series' I read in the fantasy genre about 4 to 5 years ago and I really loved it at the time.  You can tell because on Goodreads, I rated it four stars with no review :D  However, I revisited it and I just don't really love it all that much anymore.  It's not that I hate it, it's more that I'm entirely indifferent.  I think that after I've read so many other fantasy books, I can come back and so cliche some of the things are in it.  It's still a lovely, light fantasy book though!

What book did you used to love but don't anymore?

  1. That's a tough one to answer as I don't revisit books all that often and ones I have revisited, I still enjoy.

    1. It was tough for me too for the same reason! I read a book and then I move on from it.

  2. I didn't like this one the first time round. There are a lot better books out there. Still, it's sad when a book doesn't hold up on a reread.

    1. That's sad to hear. Of course, I think I only liked it because I hadn't really read many books in that genre and I didn't realize how good books could be.

  3. I haven't read this one yet. It's been on my TBR list for a while. I'm not itching to read it, though, because I've heard mixed reviews.

    1. This is another book where you either really like it or really don't (it IS endorsed by the author of Twilight, after all!). Perhaps you'll end up liking it.

  4. I read this Yeats ago. Back when it first came out. I liked it, it wasn't mind blowing or anything. I'm not sure if I'd feel the same now...

  5. Ah, I remember this book! I don't remember much from it but just that I didn't enjoy it that much (or I would remember it more, right?) I really liked I'll Give You The Sun but now, I find it bland. Sad, right?

    1. That is really sad! It's so horrible when you try to reread your childhood favorites and you just can't get through them.

  6. I haven't heard of wings, though the cover does remind me of one of my favorites, Tithe, which also has wings on the cover (and has a somewhat similar plot, but edgier). I really can't think of a book I like less now- most of my books I've reread have given me the same impression. I guess I haven't changed much. ;)

    1. That's super nice though! Then you can reread whatever you want (no matter how long ago you read it) and you won't be worried you'll hate it the second time (or third or fourth or whater!) around!
