30 Days of Books: Day 15 - Favorite Male Character

Check out my first post (HERE) for a whole explanation on this!  Jenni is hosting this round and she has a linky set up if you'd like to join in!  Check out her blog HERE.

Today's topic is: favorite male character.

I originally actually wanted to put Dumbledore but I felt like that was kind of a cop-out because the only reason I immediately thought of him was because Jenni had him has her favorite male character!  I also didn't want to do another SJM character (I LOVE Rhysand!).  So I ended up choosing:

Akiva from

Daughter of Smoke and Bone #1

Blurb:
"Around the world, black hand prints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

In a dark and dusty shop, a devil’s supply of human teeth grows dangerously low.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherworldly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real, she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands", she speaks many languages - not all of them human - and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out.

When beautiful, haunted Akiva fixes fiery eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?"

I really like Akiva as a character simply because he is such a complex character.  He has so much going on in his life after certain events take place and he really struggles to maintain himself and stay true to himself while being pulled in different directions by his people and Karou.  He's such a fascinating character to me and I love reading scenes with him in them!

Who is your favorite male character?

  1. You totally could've picked Dumbledore, but I understand why you didn't. :) I haven't read this series yet. It's on my never-ending TBR list, though.

  3. Great pick - such a good character! Some of my favorites include Todd from Chaos Walking, Wolfe, Jess, and Santi from Ink and Bone, Cassel from Curse Workers, Harry Dresden from the Dresden Files, Cal and Nico from the Leandros series, Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic.

    1. Oh my gosh so many books that I have to read! I do like Todd from the Chaos Walking series (even though I've only read the first book...)!

  4. I think my favorite is (tentatively) Victor from Vicious by V.E. Schwab. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a book I haven't read yet (I see I'm among others) but if it's ever on sale I'd likely buy it, even though I seldom seem to touch my YA trove. I just have to own all the books!
