"Harry Potter's third year at Hogwarts is full of new dangers. A convicted murderer, Sirius Black, has broken out of Azkaban prison, and it seems he's after Harry. Now Hogwarts is being patrolled by the dementors, the Azkaban guards who are hunting Sirius. But Harry can't imagine that Sirius or, for that matter, the evil Lord Voldemort could be more frightening than the dementors themselves, who have the terrible power to fill anyone they come across with aching loneliness and despair. Meanwhile, life continues as usual at Hogwarts. A top-of-the-line broom takes Harry's success at Quidditch, the sport of the Wizarding world, to new heights. A cute fourth-year student catches his eye. And he becomes close with the new Defense of the Dark Arts teacher, who was a childhood friend of his father. Yet despite the relative safety of life at Hogwarts and the best efforts of the dementors, the threat of Sirius Black grows ever closer. But if Harry has learned anything from his education in wizardry, it is that things are often not what they seem. Tragic revelations, heartwarming surprises, and high-stakes magical adventures await the boy wizard in this funny and poignant third installment of the beloved series.

I love this book! We learn so much about Harry and his family and his inner self! It's also still in the early stages so nobody is dying or anything and it's still relatively uplifting to read (as compared to #5-#7). It's also a little longer than the first two so there's more action and much more description of the wizarding world. Also, the introduction of the Patronus!!

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth novel in the Harry Potter series, written by J. K. Rowling. It follows Harry Potter's struggles through his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including the surreptitious return of the antagonist Lord Voldemort, O.W.L. exams, and an obstructive Ministry of Magic. The novel was published on 21 June 2003 by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom, Scholastic in the United States, and Raincoast in Canada. Five million copies were sold in the first 24 hours of publication.[2] It is the longest book of the series. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has won several awards, including being named an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults in 2003. The book has also been made into a film, which was released in 2007, and into a video game by Electronic Arts."
This is my least favorite mainly because of the subject matter. Everything starts getting darker and I just couldn't get into it. This is normally where I'll stop my rewatch of the movies because I don't want to watch all the dark stuff, even if it ends up okay in the end. I actually love Umbridge as a character even though she makes the whole book that much darker.

Next Week's Topic: First/Last Book Read in 2017
I’m actually the exact opposite! PoA was my least favourite HP book and movie. It was just too slow moving in my opinion and I didn’t find it very relevant to the rest of the plot. Order of the Phoenix is my favourite HP movie but my favourite book would probably be Chamber of Secrets. It’s very heartwarming to me :)
ReplyDeleteHaha really? Oooo yes Chamber of Secrets is the best!! That was my second choice for favorite :) This was just such a hard topic because I love all of them. Thanks for stopping by, Emily!
DeleteYeah, I think everyone’s favorite is the third one. I actually like the second and sixth the best but I’m odd.
ReplyDeleteThe second one was my runner up! I was having such a hard time deciding. I have such a hard time reading the sixth one though... anything past the fifth book gets really dark and while I do like them all, those are the hardest for me to reread because it's when everything gets serious and people start dying. Thanks for stopping by, Jenny!
DeleteWe agree on both our most favorite and our least. The introduction of Sirius and the way she handled it was excellent. Many times change comes across as the scariest event but we end up embracing the change whole heartedly. She showed this so well. An excellent writer!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I'm actually hoping to do a rewatch of the movies sometime this week (I have the day off on Monday so maybe I'll make it a HP day???). Right? I feel like her writing really improved as the series went on; it's like you can see both Rowling and Harry mature throughout the books :) Thanks for stopping by, Dani!
