Check out my first post (HERE) for a whole explanation on this! Jenni is hosting this round and she has a linky set up if you'd like to join in! Check out her blog HERE.
Today's topic is: a book that makes you sad.
All of these books make me sad for separate reasons so I decided that I would just list them all!
This book is all about a love story between two people who are very VERY far apart in age (think 35ish years). The whole book is focused around the stigma surrounding couple like this and the two people trying out some science to see what kind of a life they could have together if they were the same age. It's so, so good but so, so heartbreaking to read.
This is the book where everything gets super dark super fast. Of course, the story line starts to darken in the fourth book, but this one is especially sad because of you-know-who dying. That SCENE!
This book is so sad because it focuses around people who live in extreme poverty in a Mumbai undercity. Again, this is such a good book, but it's so sad to read.
This book is SO sad! Again, it's one of those really good books that I just can't bear to read again. It centers around the MC, Charlie, who is mentally disabled. He undergoes a new procedure that has been tested on mice and has been shown to increase intelligence. Charlie does gain intelligence but then some really sad things happen.
What are some books that make you sad?
Good book picks. I've only read Half-Blood Prince and Flowers of Algernon and I agree they're both sad. I think Dealthy Hallows is more sad, though, because of Hedwig and Dobby.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenni! Oh my goodness yes DH is so, so sad!
DeleteI have only read HP. I like sad books but only sometimes.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Often, they're such good books the first time around but I just can't bear to read them a second time because they're so sad.
DeleteYes, I believe I cried at HBP... :)
