Award Tuesday: Blogger Recognition Award

So I was nominated for this award in January by Rose over at Paranormal Books!  Thanks so much Rose!  Eve over at Edge of Night created this award!  She's got a pretty sweet blog design :)  Here's what you've got to do!

1.  Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece or two of advice to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide a link to their blog. List who you've nominated in the post. Make sure to also attach the award itself! (You can do this by right-clicking, saving, and uploading the image above).

2.  Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.

3.  Comment on each blog and let them know you've nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you created.
Let's get started!

Let's see.... I made this blog... I MISSED MY BLOGOVERSARY!!  I just realized that oh jeez...  Okay I'll do a blogoversary post soon!

Anyway, I started my blog last year on like May... 5th?  I actually don't really know...  But I had started posting reviews on Goodreads on November 7th, 2013!  My first review I posted on that date was my review for Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore.  You can read it if you want but I'll warn you, it's pretty scary!  There was this group I was a part of on Goodreads where you posted your reviews in your own thread and some people suggested that I start my own blog!  Since I knew blogger on Gmail didn't cost anything, I figured I could make one and see how it went!

Flash forward to a year later, I've learned a little, lost a little, and am in it for the long haul!

Piece of advice number one:  Don't feel obligated to post certain things or to post every day.  I know that sounds terrible coming from a person who has a tight schedule and posts every day but hear me out.  I post on a schedule because I like knowing what posts I need to write and I'm careful to have things on my schedule that I'm interested in.  Your blog is all about YOU and how it fits into your lifestyle is up to you!  People read posts because they have your personality in them and they're interested to see what you have to say!  Don't be afraid to just let it all out (respecting other people's views though).

Which leads me to my next point: make your blog your own.  When you make your blog, you're claiming a part of the blogosphere and you have an obligation to make it your own!  Personally, I'm not very interested in posts that sound like they're written like a robot.  Just be you!

And finally number three:  don't be afraid to ask for help!  The bloggers in the blogosphere are so nice!  I remember when I was starting up my blog I had no idea what I was doing and I was so scared to ask for help because I thought veteran bloggers wouldn't want to talk to someone like me.  So for the first couple months I was so freaked out but I realized that everyone is actually so nice and is more than willing to have a conversation and help you out!

    1. Thanks Rachel! I feel like they forget it too and soon your blog is all about what gets the most views and comments and what the 'people' want. I love reading blogs that are just totally random but centered around the bloggers hobbies and interests! Being a blogger is a pretty big commitment!

  3. Awww, thanks, Laura! I agree on the part where you said to blog for you. Despite the fact some of my real life friends pressure me to kick out a certain coblogger, I'm planning on not doing so because I'd rather her/him to blog when s/he can, even if s/he can't post at least once every month. How I started my blog is actually a little funny though (as a 17 year old looking at a 15 year old, of course). :p
