50/50 Friday (13): Best/Worst Food in a Book (that you'd eat)

50/50 Friday is a meme hosted by Carrie @The Butterfly Reads and I and focuses on the opposite sides of books (best/worst, differing opinions, etc).  Every week will have a new topic and several advance topics will be listed in the tab labeled 50/50 Friday!

Today's Topic: Best/Worst Food in a Book (that you'd eat)

Best:

This book takes place in Japan and I'm such a huge fan of miso soup (and most Japanese food in general) so I'd love to eat it!  This book has such yummy foods described in it!

Worst:

Armen (one of Rhysand's cadre) eats blood instead of normal human (or I suppose, fey) food (so she's basically an honorary vampire).  I don't know about ya'll but I definitely don't want to drink blood in place of a meal.

Would you want to eat these foods (or bodily fluids :D)?  What foods would you like to eat that you've read about in books?  Make a post and link up down below!

Next Week's Topic: Character Most/Least Like Yourself

  1. Yeah blood would be nasty to drink/eat. Ew.

    1. For sure. Armen is a badass character but I could not do her diet!

  2. MISO SOUP LOOKS SO GOOD. But so does every other dish in the world...

And ew, an honorary vampire? I'm not sure how I feel about that....

    1. Right?? Japanese food in general is fabulous.

Haha yep. Her character is pretty great but the whole blood drinking thing doesn't fly with me (although it makes her more badass).

  3. Yup, I wouldn't be up for eating blood much either! But Japanese food, I could do ;)

  4. I want to try Egusi Soup. Nnedi Okorafor makes it sound delicious in her book Lagoon, but I'm not sure exactly what goes in it.

    1. I haven't read that book yet but anything ending in soup sounds amazing to me. Soup is one of those things that you can put almost anything into it and it will be wonderful (except for squash).

  5. You can't knock what you haven't tried, Laura! (joking- I'm sure blood just isn't one of those things I'd enjoy eating). Miso soup is definitely more palatable- I think my favorite book food I've come across was blackberry jam on toast in Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve- I had to go make myself a piece as soon as I stumbled across the line mentioning it.

    1. :D hahaha as long as you go first, Litha! Mmmmm blackberry jam sounds glorious. Jam in general is a wonderful invention (no need for that weak jelly stuff)!
